What You Will Learn

We offer lessons for students at all levels and to suit your needs. Whether you simply want to play the songs you enjoy or progress through graded exams, you will learn practical skills including correct technique, how to read music, chords and rhythms. As you progress, you can also learn scales and arpeggios to improve technique.

Some theory is taught in all lessons to ensure that students have an understanding of fundamental musical elements such as time signatures, note values, chord structures and key signatures. More advanced theory is also available.

Lesson Times

Lessons are taught during the school terms with a break during school holidays. We recommend that students have regular weekly lessons at the same time slot to ensure continuous progress. Afternoon and evening lessons are available to accommodate students:

Wednesday - Friday: 12pm - 7:00pm

Lessons are by appointment only.

Exams

All students may sit for optional AMEB (Australian Music Examination Board) exams in piano and theory. We teach 3 AMEB courses, so you can choose the one that suits you:

AMEB Pianoforte - this is the traditional practical classical course

AMEB Piano for Leisure - this is a more contemporary practical course covering film, jazz and contemporary music as well as classical pieces

AMEB Theory - theory exams are available from Preliminary to Grade VIII

Your Own Piano

Students are required to practice at home for at least 15 minutes a day at the beginner levels and an hour or longer a day at the higher levels. Having a piano or touch-sensitive keyboard at home is essential for practice.

We are happy to assist you with recommendations if you are looking to buy a piano or keyboard.
